The stunning new model truly pushes the segment forward and raises the bar for competitors like the Honda Pilot and the Ford Explorer. With standard features like LED headlights and taillights, a 7-inch infotainment interface, and a backup camera, the CX-9 immediately becomes one of the best-equipped models in its class.
Under the Hood of the 2016 Mazda CX-9
Each and every 2016 Mazda CX-9 gets its power from a new turbocharged SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter engine capable of 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque available at just 2,000 rpm. That engine teams with a six-speed automatic transmission, which routes power to either the front wheels or the i-ACTIV all-wheel drive system, depending on which model you choose.
All that power doesn't come at the expense of efficiency, as the new CX-9 is rated for 22 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway, according to EPA estimates.
